Oni is a mysterious label behind which hides a true enthusiast who has devoted 60 years of his life to denim. Always seeking perfection, Oishi-san is in constant pursuit and dedicates himself solely to production. This is why there is no official website or Instagram page for the brand. It is also for this reason that the label is distributed only in a few stores around the world and exclusively at Flâneurs for France.

Made in a 15oz weight, the "Ishikawadai" is crafted from cotton spun on a Japanese Ishikawadai machine, the oldest of its kind, dating back to 1953. Unlike modern machines, the Ishikawadai spins cotton at a much slower speed, about 30% slower, producing a less stressed cotton fiber and giving the fabric a natural appearance. It resembles hand spinning, with subtle variations in thickness and a grainy texture.

The other distinctive feature of this model is that it is woven with the same cottons as the famous Secret Denim, an emblematic model of Oni. Its unique color is achieved by combining a warp thread dyed in so-called Greencast indigo, with green/blue reflections, and a weft thread dyed beige. This combination, coupled with very low tension weaving done on a 1950s shuttle machine, will result in a patina unlike any other.
