Founded in Montreal in 2008 by Brandon Svarc, Naked & Famous Denim is a Canadian brand built around a simple idea: putting the fabric back at the heart of a pair of jeans. No artificial washes, pre-distressing or unnecessary embellishments, but raw denim designed to evolve naturally with the person wearing it.
The brand develops and sources its denim from renowned Japanese mills, with a particular focus on Japanese selvedge fabrics. Most of its jeans are then cut, sewn and finished in Montreal, Canada, where Brandon Svarc’s family has been involved in the garment industry for three generations.
Naked & Famous Denim is particularly renowned for its extraordinary approach to fabric development. Alongside more traditional indigo denim, the brand has spent years creating experimental and sometimes deliberately improbable fabrics: glow-in-the-dark denim, raspberry-scented denim, multicoloured yarns, extreme weights and blends incorporating cashmere, silk and other unexpected fibres. This creative freedom allows each collection to explore new ways for denim to look, feel and evolve.
This fabric research is combined with a broad range of signature fits, from the slim Super Guy and tapered Weird Guy to the roomier Easy Guy and True Guy. The same denim can therefore be offered across several silhouettes, allowing each wearer to find their preferred balance between fabric and fit.
Naked & Famous has long held an important place in our denim selection. We particularly appreciate the way the brand combines essential raw jeans, such as its Indigo Selvedge produced since its early years, with far more adventurous textile developments.
