Universal Works is an independent British clothing brand founded in Nottingham in 2008 by David Keyte and Stephanie Porritt. After more than twenty years working within the clothing industry, including for several leading names in British menswear, David set out to create a more personal, functional and easy-to-wear wardrobe.

Universal Works - British workwear and Flâneurs collaboration

Universal Works draws equally from workwear, sportswear, tailoring and classic British clothing. Rather than faithfully reproducing vintage garments, the brand takes their functionality and simplicity as a starting point for contemporary clothing with comfortable, relaxed fits.

This approach can be seen in signature styles such as the Bakers Jacket and Cabin Jacket, alongside the many overshirts, work jackets and trousers that form the core of its collections. Universal Works has also developed a particularly natural approach to relaxed tailoring, combining soft, unstructured jackets with trousers designed for effortless everyday wear.

We have worked with Universal Works for many years, and in 2026 this relationship led to our first collaboration. We chose to reinterpret the Cabin Jacket, subtly adjusting its proportions to create a wider, boxier silhouette before selecting three distinctive Harris Tweed fabrics in Navy, Gold and Green. The collaboration brings together Universal Works’ utilitarian tailoring, Scottish textile craftsmanship and our own approach to clothing.

Universal Works offers a distinctly British approach to everyday dressing: functional without being strictly utilitarian, smart without being formal and contemporary without being driven by trends. This versatility and simplicity have made the brand a longstanding favourite within our selection.
