Sun Surf

Sun Surf is a Japanese brand created in the 1970s by Toyo Enterprise, specializing in authentic reproductions faithful to the techniques and designs of the past, particularly vintage aloha shirts (Hawaiian shirts).

Originally, the brand draws on the history of Toyo itself: the company (and its predecessor) had already been producing Hawaiian shirts in the 1950s, mainly for U.S. military bases and exports to Hawaii.

The distinctive feature of Sun Surf is its ability to faithfully recreate models from the golden age of aloha shirts (the 1930s–1950s). Sun Surf does not simply produce “vintage-inspired” shirts: it offers true historical reproductions, often regarded as collectible pieces, sitting somewhere between garment and cultural artifact.
