Beams Japan

BEAMS JAPAN is a project launched by BEAMS in 2016 with a simple ambition: to explore Japan and share the richness of its culture through objects, craftsmanship, fashion and design.

After decades spent introducing international cultures and styles to Japan, BEAMS turned its attention towards its own country. BEAMS JAPAN explores the Japanese archipelago in search of regional craftsmanship, iconic objects, skilled makers and manufacturers with whom it can develop a contemporary interpretation of Japanese culture.

Traditional crafts, everyday objects, accessories, fashion, art and popular culture all coexist within its deliberately eclectic universe. BEAMS JAPAN works with both historic manufacturers and contemporary creators, often bringing a playful, graphic or unexpected perspective to traditional Japanese objects.

From maneki-neko lucky cats and tanuki figures to ceramics, paper goods, accessories and traditional geta sandals, the BEAMS JAPAN selection at Flâneurs reflects this curiosity for the many different facets of Japan.

More than simply a brand, BEAMS JAPAN offers a vision of Japan where heritage and contemporary culture continually interact, highlighting objects, techniques and craftsmanship that each tell a different story about the country.
