Although Omoto Denim is a very young brand, launched in 2024, its founder is certainly no stranger to us. Hiroki Kishimoto is the former General Manager of Japan Blue Jeans and brings more than thirty years of experience in the Japanese denim industry.
His career began in 1992 at Collect in Kojima, where he worked on developing denim fabrics for various Japanese and international brands. After playing a key role in the development of Japan Blue Jeans, Hiroki Kishimoto now brings this experience to a more personal project centred around fabric, craftsmanship and timeless denim.
Based in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, Omoto Denim works with specialist Japanese craftspeople and manufacturers to develop richly textured Made in Japan selvedge fabrics. Slub and Nep denim, indigo Rope Dyeing, vintage shuttle looms and carefully considered details reflect an approach deeply rooted in the traditional expertise of Japanese denim.
The name Omoto (万年青) comes from a Japanese evergreen plant that remains green throughout the year. This idea of permanence and evolution perfectly reflects the brand’s philosophy, “More Wear, More Wonderful”: creating simple, timeless garments whose beauty gradually reveals itself through wear, washing and the natural ageing of denim.
We had the opportunity to discover Omoto Denim’s very first collection at the end of 2024 and are proud to have been among the first retailers worldwide to offer Hiroki Kishimoto’s creations. We have followed the brand from its beginnings and particularly appreciate its approach: respecting the heritage of Japanese denim while continuing to explore fabrics, textures and fits.
