One Ear Brand

One Ear Brand is a Japanese brand specialising in premium bandanas made entirely in Japan. Under the creative direction of Jonathan Lukacek, the brand reinterprets this historic utilitarian accessory as a genuine textile piece, sitting somewhere between clothing, an everyday object and illustration.

Each bandana is conceived as an original graphic composition. The designs combine references to historic American bandanas with Japanese culture, art and contemporary illustration. Jonathan Lukacek develops the concepts in collaboration with various artists, including Yurika Shikai, as well as Alessio Vitelli and Kaga Satoshi depending on the design.

Production takes place entirely in Japan. The cotton fabric is woven on traditional shuttle looms, giving each bandana two genuine selvedge edges. Every piece is then individually printed and sewn in the Kansai region, without the use of discharge printing, helping preserve the richness of its colours and artwork.

Available notably in generous 70 × 70 cm and 90 × 90 cm formats, One Ear Brand bandanas are designed to go far beyond their original purpose. Worn around the neck or head, used as a scarf or Furoshiki, they become textile objects to wear, use and collect.

One Ear Brand therefore offers a particularly distinctive interpretation of the bandana: a simple and functional object, made with the care of a premium Japanese textile and transformed into a medium for artistic expression.
