The Hikuri Bandana Poppy by One Ear Brand is part of an artistic and handcrafted approach to the traditional American bandana, reinterpreted through a contemporary Japanese sensibility. Designed as a true graphic piece, it explores the world of the Southwestern United States desert, its arid landscapes, and its symbolism linked to cacti and road trip culture.
Made from high-quality cotton and woven on traditional shuttle looms, this 90×90 cm bandana is entirely handcrafted in Japan in the Kansai region. Each piece is printed by hand, resulting in subtle variations that reinforce its unique character.
The “Hikuri” motif features a composition inspired by Saguaro and Peyote cacti, set within a visual atmosphere reminiscent of a Southwestern travel memory. The illustration by Yurika Shikai blends pop culture influences, literary references, and desert imagery, creating a narrative and symbolic universe.
Designed as a versatile object, this bandana can be worn around the neck or head, or used as a Furoshiki (a traditional Japanese fabric folding and wrapping technique) for carrying or wrapping objects. It reflects One Ear Brand’s philosophy: transforming a utilitarian accessory into a cultural and artistic piece, between textile heritage and contemporary design.
