Founded in 2006 in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, Momotaro Jeans has become one of the emblematic names in Japanese denim. Based at the heart of one of Japan’s leading jeans-producing regions, the brand specialises in selvedge denim, combining fabric development, traditional manufacturing techniques and Made in Japan construction.

The name Momotaro, literally “Peach Boy”, refers to one of the most famous heroes of Japanese folklore, particularly associated with the Okayama region. The legend has also inspired several of the brand’s historic details, including its signature pink selvedge line, recalling the colour of the peach.

Momotaro develops its own denim fabrics with particular attention paid to cotton selection, spinning, indigo dyeing and weaving. The brand is especially known for its use of Zimbabwe cotton, deep indigo shades and selvedge denim slowly woven on traditional shuttle looms. Different weights and textures allow each fabric to develop its own distinctive character and patina over time.

Made in Japan, Momotaro jeans are also distinguished by the precision of their construction and finishing, including chain-stitched hems, reinforcing rivets, leather patches and numerous details rooted in traditional denim culture. A wide range of fits now brings this expertise to silhouettes ranging from Tapered and Straight to Wide.

Our relationship with Momotaro Jeans has also led to several exclusive projects. Our first Momotaro × Flâneurs collaboration was the brand’s first with a French retailer. Together, we notably developed the FnM002, a Loose Tapered trouser made from an exclusive 16.5oz Hard-Slub selvedge denim specifically developed for the project.
