In 2022, drawing on nearly fifty years of experience, one of the last remaining knitwear manufacturers in the Paris region created Nitto Knitwear. Behind the brand lies a family expertise passed down from father to son through three generations.
Nitto’s story is also closely connected to Japan. The French manufacturer first became known there under the name Tricots Jean-Marc, attracting a growing following among customers particularly sensitive to the quality of its manufacturing. This recognition contributed to the creation of Nitto Knitwear, whose name directly refers to knitting in Japanese.
Based in Clamart, just outside Paris, the manufacturer carries out the entire production process within its own workshop. Sweaters are designed, programmed, knitted, washed, fulled, assembled and pressed on site. This increasingly rare level of vertical manufacturing in France allows Nitto to maintain precise control over materials, knitting, proportions and finishing.
The collections combine this traditional expertise with a more contemporary approach to knitwear, balancing sportswear influences with classic wardrobe staples. Nitto notably works with fine merino wool and develops different knitted constructions to create comfortable, durable sweaters entirely made in France.
Our close relationship with the manufacturer has also allowed us to develop a dedicated Nitto × Flâneurs selection, with shapes, materials and colours chosen specifically for Flâneurs. The collaboration perfectly reflects our desire to work directly with manufacturers who control their own production and can develop distinctive products alongside us.
