Japan Blue Jeans is a Japanese denim brand born in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, a region widely regarded as the historic heart of Japanese jeans manufacturing. Its roots lie in Collect, a textile manufacturer founded in 1992 and specialising in the development and production of denim.
As one of the companies involved in the revival of Japanese selvedge denim, the manufacturer initially built its reputation on the quality of its fabrics, developing denim for various brands in Japan and internationally. This expertise in fabric development would eventually lead to the creation of Momotaro Jeans, followed by Japan Blue Jeans.
Launched internationally in 2011, Japan Blue Jeans adopted a more experimental approach to denim from the outset. The brand believes that making a great pair of jeans begins with making the fabric itself, carefully exploring cotton selection, spinning, dyeing and weaving to develop denim with a wide variety of weights, textures and characteristics.
This research can now be found across a broad range of Made in Japan selvedge jeans, available in different denim weights and fits, from Tapered and Straight to Classic Straight and Loose. Japan Blue also extends its approach to other fabrics closely associated with Japanese textile culture, including Sashiko and chambray.
Made in Japan and deeply rooted in the textile expertise of Kojima and Okayama, Japan Blue Jeans combines the traditions of Japanese denim with fabric innovation and a contemporary approach to fit and comfort.
