Nigel Cabourn
Nigel Cabourn is one of the most influential figures in contemporary heritage clothing. Since the late 1960s, the British designer has drawn inspiration from military uniforms, workwear and expedition clothing to create a timeless wardrobe in which every detail has a story behind it.
Rather than following trends, Nigel Cabourn draws on an exceptional personal collection of more than 4,000 vintage garments and objects, assembled over more than fifty years. Military uniforms, workwear, sportswear and equipment designed for historic expeditions form a genuine textile library from which he develops each collection.
Every garment is the result of extensive research, combining historical references, exceptional materials and specialist craftsmanship. From Japanese cottons to iconic British fabrics such as Harris Tweed and Ventile®, each component is selected for its connection to the history and original purpose of the garment that inspired it.
The Nigel Cabourn universe notably extends between the United Kingdom and Japan. Some collections are produced in Britain by historic manufacturers, while the Japanese line explores the same archives through Japan’s exceptional textile expertise and manufacturing techniques.
