Remi Relief

REMI RELIEF is a Japanese brand founded in 2007 by Yutaka Goto, with a simple ambition: to reinterpret the great classics of the American wardrobe through Japanese textile expertise. Its universe draws heavily on sportswear, workwear, military clothing and American culture from the 1950s through to the 1980s.

Based in the Okayama region, at the heart of Japan’s textile industry, REMI RELIEF places particular emphasis on fabric development. Yarns, weave density, dyes and treatments are carefully considered to create fabrics capable of reproducing the feel and character of vintage garments that have already been worn for many years.

This exploration of ageing has become one of REMI RELIEF’s signatures. Rather than simply reproducing the appearance of an old garment, the brand seeks to understand how fibres, colours and fabrics evolve over time. Pigment dyes, washes and various treatments are used to create sweatshirts, T-shirts, shirts and denim pieces with a particularly natural-looking patina.
