For the summer season, FOB Factory takes on another icon of military apparel: the M-51 parka, also known as the Shell Parka or Fishtail Parka. As its name suggests, this jacket first appeared in 1951 ("M" for Model and "51" for the year it was created). Originally developed by the U.S. military to combat the harsh winters of the Korean War, this parka faded from use before experiencing a resurgence of interest among cultural movements like the Mods in Great Britain and the hippie community. Initially offered with a removable liner, vintage models in good condition are now relatively rare. This is why many brands draw inspiration from them to create faithful reproductions or more modern reinterpretations.

This model from FOB Factory follows the trend of reinterpretation while retaining many of the original details. It features the 3 drawstrings (hood, waist, and bottom of the jacket), the "Fishtail" finish at the lower back, which can be shortened via two snap buttons inside the parka, and the slanted pockets with buttoned flaps. As a nod to the original model, FOB Factory has also added a small "Instruction Label", a tag sewn on the pocket bag providing care instructions for the jacket.

It is made from a fabric originally used in the manufacture of the U.S. military's B-9 Flight Jackets. This is a high-density woven moleskin that offers flexibility and durability. Its slightly glossy appearance will fade and develop a unique patina over time, reminiscent of vintage models.

For the fit, the brand has chosen to modernize the original pattern by shortening the length and enhancing the loose drape of the cut to align with current standards. The more contemporary shape can easily be worn with a wide range of outfits, from the most dressed up to the most casual.
