Launched over 10 years ago by Warehouse & Co. and recently taken over by Sankei Meriyasu, a venerable knitting company founded in 1926, the Japanese label Dubbleworks is well-known for crafting high-quality sweatshirts and t-shirts. Indeed, to make their cotton jersey, they mainly use old circular loom machines from the 1920s known as "loopwheelers".

For this piece, Dubbleworks chose another old, circular industrial machine called "Standwheeler", originally designed and created in Wakayama, Japan. Rare and challenging to operate, only a handful of artisans are capable of running it. The cotton jersey produced by the Standwheelers is quite different from the classic loopwheel t-shirts. Indeed, these machines allow for spinning a much thicker yarn than usual, resulting in a fabric that is both thick and sturdy yet remains breathable. Moreover, the Japanese label incorporates shorter fibers sourced from fiber waste during the combing process. This addition generates texture and irregularity. This is the Raffy thread, historically the first made from recycled cotton.

This piece features a tubular assembly, with no side seams. The straight fit is paired with a relatively wide neck, with thick ribs, double-stitched. Another detail reminiscent of vintage baseball t-shirts, the 3/4 sleeves are accompanied by a roughly cut rounded hem, reinforced with a simple stitch to prevent fraying.

The Pink shade is achieved through a pigment dyeing process, applied after the garment is made, giving the fabric a washed-out look and an uneven color that will deepen with time and washes.
