Dubble Works was established over 10 years ago by the Japanese label Warehouse & Co. and is now under the direction of Sankei Meriyasu. Historically, it is a knitting company founded in 1926, known for making very high-quality sweatshirts and t-shirts. Indeed, to make their cotton jerseys, they primarily use old circular weaving machines from the 1920s known as "loopwheelers".

To create this piece, Dubbleworks chose another old, circular industrial machine called "Standwheeler", originally designed and created in Wakayama, Japan. Rare and difficult to operate, only a handful of artisans can run it. The cotton jersey produced by Standwheelers is very different from traditional loopwheel t-shirts. These machines allow for spinning much thicker yarn than usual, resulting in a fabric that is both thick and sturdy yet still breathable. Additionally, the Japanese label incorporates shorter fibers from fiber scraps during the combing process into the weave. This addition creates texture and irregularity. This is the Raffy thread, historically the first made from recycled cotton.

This piece features a tubular assembly, with no side seams. The boxy, loose, and comfortable fit is paired with a collar and relatively wide ribbing, thickly ribbed and double stitched. The raglan sleeves add a casual look to this t-shirt and offer greater comfort when worn. The left sleeve also features a chain stitch embroidery with the initials "DW" of the brand.

The Sumikuro shade is achieved through a pigment dyeing process, applied after the garment is made, which gives the fabric a washed look and an irregular color that will intensify over time and with washes.
