To celebrate its 6th anniversary, Informale unveils the iconic Jungle Jacket J002 in a limited edition of 45 pieces, available exclusively at Informale and Flâneurs. This unique version directly echoes the success of our collaboration Informale x Flâneurs released in early 2024. A Tiger Stripe version had been considered before finally being replaced by the definitive Sashiko version.

For this iteration, Informale, managed by its creator Steve Calder, has decided to delve deeper into the world of vintage camouflage by offering a new limited edition of the J002, this time in a Ripstop fabric featuring the lesser-known Tiger Stripe.

The origins of the Tiger Stripe camouflage are unknown, but it was widely used in the 1960s as the best means of remaining hidden in tropical jungles. It was not an official pattern of the US Army, but due to its effectiveness, it was often adopted by soldiers at the time and eventually became a popular choice in many Southeast Asian countries. Most military Ripstop fabrics were, and still are today, made from a blend of cotton and nylon. Wishing to stay true to the pure Informale tradition, the Australian label managed to procure a 100% cotton version, both lightweight and durable.

Based on a true icon of the US military wardrobe, Informale delivers with the J002 its interpretation of the second version of the Jungle Jacket, used during the Vietnam War. The brand wanted to retain the functionality of this historic jacket while adding a more contemporary touch. Although featuring a more minimalist design, the original codes remain unchanged: it includes the classic collar, 4 large front pockets, including 2 diagonally mounted chest pockets, double button cuffs, and a drawstring for cinching the jacket to fit.

The fit has also been slightly modified to easily adapt to a more modern style. Offering a straight cut that simplifies ease of movement, this jacket remains tailored, blending brilliantly with a more formal silhouette. Whether worn over a suit or on its own over a t-shirt for a more casual look, this jacket will find its place in a multitude of different silhouettes.

Made in Melbourne with the same original details, this Tiger Stripe version has been washed to give it a subtle worn look. Due to the washing, the size is slightly different from the classic J002, a bit smaller in width and length. We therefore recommend taking a size up if you are tall or if you are between sizes.
