It’s been nearly 3 years since we started working with the Australians from Informale, an innovative label masterfully managed by its creator Steve Calder. After a first collaboration for the Spring/Summer 2023 season based on an exclusive colorway of their linen pants T005, we wanted to further strengthen our partnership through a second collaboration. While the trousers offered by Informale remain among our best-sellers from past seasons, another piece stands out: their famous Jungle Jacket. With great pride, Informale and Flâneurs present a piece that marks the meeting of a modern vision of military wardrobe and the quality of traditional Japanese fabrics.

Based on a real icon of the American military wardrobe, Informale delivers with the J002 their interpretation of the second version of the Jungle Jacket, used during the Vietnam War. The brand wanted to maintain the functionality of this historical jacket while adding a more contemporary touch. Although sporting a more minimalist design, the classic codes remain unchanged: the classic collar, the 4 large front pockets, including 2 diagonally mounted chest pockets, double buttoning at the cuffs, and the drawstring that allows for adjusting the jacket to one's liking.

The cut has also been slightly modified to easily adapt to a more modern style. Offering a straight cut that simplifies ease of movement, this jacket remains tailored, blending brilliantly with a more formal silhouette. Whether worn over a suit or just over a t-shirt for a more casual look, this jacket will find its place in a multitude of different silhouettes.

While we let Informale handle the manufacturing, keeping to their well-mastered design, we wanted to bring the Flâneurs identity through the choice of fabric. As passionate lovers of indigo and Japanese textile culture, it was a clear choice. We selected an exclusive Sashiko fabric, weighing 13.5oz, woven at low tension on jacquard looms and dyed in indigo using the traditional "rope dyeing" technique. The fabric is then rinsed, which makes it softer and removes excess indigo. This pre-washing also gives it an initially more nuanced shade which, with repeated wear, will offer a magnificent azure patina and a typical three-dimensional texture.
