This 6 Panel Knit Cap is cut and sewn in a neighboring hat factory of ROTOTO, using knitted wool fabric from a local knitwear shop. The fabric in question is made from a mix of recycled wool and polyester. The wool is produced in Japan by recycling used materials, including second-hand clothing and waste from domestic sewing factories and spinning mills, while the polyester fiber is made from recycled plastic bottles. Thus, it possesses both the heat-retaining and moisture-wicking properties of wool and the quick-drying, durability, and lightweight features of polyester.

The recycled polyester used here is produced by Unifi, one of the pioneers in recycling plastic bottles.

ROTOTO socks are manufactured in the largest sock-producing region in Japan, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. The industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad in the country.

ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the use of the product. This could be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or on the other hand, modern high-tech tools."
