Always in search of new techniques while strictly respecting the traditions dear to them, the brand offers with the SD-801 a versatile traditional straight cut. It features a snug mid-rise, a comfortable thigh followed by a straight leg from knee to hem. This vintage-inspired cut has all the characteristics to easily adapt to a wide range of body types.

The uniqueness of SDA mainly appears in the fabric used, a 15oz denim, pre-washed to remove any potential shrinkage, fix the size, and allow the texture to stand out. This denim is notably dyed with a natural indigo from the prefecture of Tokushima, on the island of Shikoku in Japan. This prefecture is famous for its cultivation and use of indigo, from the plant to the fermentation process to its transformation into dye. The local techniques of hand-dyeing the yarn are also part of a globally recognized expertise.

With the SD-801, SDA manages to offer a jean dyed with indigo in its purest form, at a price that does not reach the usual heights of this type of jeans. For this, they have opted to replace the hand-dyeing process with a more mechanized process called "rope dyeing", which involves dyeing the yarns in larger quantities, less deeply but also more uniformly. The result is nonetheless interesting, with natural indigo known for its unique evolving and patina properties.

Blending a natural weft thread with an indigo warp thread, the fabric sports an azure blue hue, typical of natural dyes, which will intensify as the patina develops. Woven on the historic Toyoda G3, Studio D'Artisan jeans guarantee a unique evolution, with nuanced washes and a texture typical of the weaving and dyeing techniques used.
