The Mokaflex follows the design of a Penny Loafer, a slip-on loafer that has spanned generations without going out of style. The term Loafer means "to lounge," and Penny refers to the coin that was often slipped into the leather notch on top of the shoe. This design was particularly popular in the 1950s, especially among American students with an Ivy League style, who popularized the addition of a penny, which at the time was the cost of a phone call. Unlike the classic Mokaflex, the crepe sole has been replaced with a non-slip rubber sole, adding a more formal touch to the shoe while making it more suitable for rain or other bad weather conditions.

Astorflex manufactures its shoes with a responsible and sustainable approach. The lining and insoles are made of vegetable-tanned calf leather. The leather is soaked in a mixture of water and powdered oak bark and mimosa, without the use of molds or colored finishes. This process makes the leather healthier, hypoallergenic, and ensures greater absorption of sweat to keep feet dry and odor-free.
