Oni is a mysterious label hidden behind a true enthusiast who has devoted 60 years of his life to denim. Always striving for perfection, Oishi-san is constantly researching and dedicates himself solely to production. This is why you won't find a website or an official Instagram page for the brand. It is also for this reason that the label is only distributed in a few stores worldwide and only at Flâneurs for France.

When referring to an iconic piece of denim history, it is impossible not to mention the Type I denim jacket. Created in 1905, this version significantly changed the perspective on denim clothing, initially reserved for miners and workers, and allowed the denim jacket to become part of everyday attire.

The 01507L offered by ONI follows the traditional Type I codes: the unique chest pocket, the ease pleats surrounding the button placket, the original boxy cut paired with the back cinch, allowing the jacket to be tailored to fit.

Produced in a 15oz weight, the "Ishikawadai" is made from cotton spun on an Ishikawadai Japanese machine, the oldest of its kind, dating back to 1953. Unlike modern machines, the Ishikawadai spins cotton at a much slower speed, about 30%, which produces a less stressed cotton fiber and gives the fabric a natural look. A result similar to hand spinning, with subtle variations in thickness and a grainy texture.

Another distinctive feature of this model is its fabric, woven with the same cottons as the famous Secret Denim, an iconic model of ONI. Its unique color is achieved by combining a warp yarn dyed in a so-called Greencast indigo, with green/blueish reflections, and a weft yarn dyed in beige. This combination, coupled with very low tension weaving performed on a 1950s shuttle machine, will result in a patina unlike any other.
