We are in 2020. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Warehouse & Co. is fully committed to the creation of its flagship label, Dead Stock Blue. From the leather patch to the buttons and rivets, to the sewing threads used on THE specific sewing machine, the Japanese label has shown an undeniable thoroughness. This meticulousness is reflected in the Lot. S1003XX, a precise reproduction of a World War II denim, specifically from 1942.

This reproduction begins with an indigo dyeing process carried out over a long period to achieve the precise shade called "deadstock blue". The weaving, done on old shuttle looms, achieves the exact textures and tensions, representative of the vintage models used as templates. The resulting fabric subtly blends a speckled texture with a relatively uniform ensemble, a certain dry and ribbed suppleness to the touch. The finishes are also proof of the attention to detail. At the time, the crotch rivet should have been abandoned along with the back cinch from the 1930s but was not on the 1942 model. However, the small coin pocket is not riveted. In an effort to increase durability, the pocket bag fabric is made from a very particular light denim, considered rarer than chambray or flannel. The final touch is the use of red paint instead of stitching to form the arc of the back pockets.

The cut, of course, recalls that of the great classics in jeans history. This 1942 model is today considered the most popular of vintage jeans. It features a normal waist height, sitting on the hip, followed by a straight and spacious leg from the thigh to the hem. Received raw, unwashed, and unsanforized, we chose to pre-wash it ourselves using Warehouse & Co. detergent that does not alter the indigo.
