"Onion quilting" (in French: surpiqûre "oignon") is a type of decorative padding mainly used for jacket linings, parkas, or vests. It is characterized by wavy or elongated drop-shaped stitching patterns, which, placed side by side, resemble the layered structure of an onion, making it ideal as an independent thermal layer. The ensemble can be worn combined or separately, depending on the season.
