Driven by a commitment to perpetuate French craftsmanship and local consumption, Manufacture Bontemps has been manufacturing shoe models in Nantes since 2021, demonstrating real expertise and an endless passion for authentic manufacturing techniques.

The Derby MBF 101 is the flagship model of Manufacture Bontemps. A true classic, it adopts the traditional pattern of a derby with balanced lines while being more assertive with its front overlay.

It is made from oiled full-grain calf leather. This leather, from an Alsatian tannery, is known for its durability, flexibility, and waterproofness. The different pieces of leather that make up the shoe are assembled together using thread sourced from Comines, in the north of France, by a manufacturer specializing in high-quality shoe threads since 1848.

The shoe is then mounted on a sole made of a natural rubber blend, produced in the Allier. This sole, comfortable and sturdy, has proven itself after many years of use by the French Army. It is connected to the derby by a sandalette stitch, a lesser-known alternative to Goodyear and Norwegian welts. Here doubled to enhance durability, this stitch is more flexible, lighter, and generally used on mountain footwear for its waterproofness. Like the other more popular types of stitching, it also allows the shoe to be resoled.

Finally, the round laces, made from certified Oeko-Tex organic cotton, are slowly woven on old wooden looms from the 19th century, near Cholet, in Maine-et-Loire.
