In the trend of vintage sneaker reproductions, Novesta offers a reinterpretation of the iconic German Army Trainer (GAT). The origin of this model dates back to the 1970s, when the German Federal Army ("Bundeswehr" or "BW") wanted to order half a million sneakers that could withstand the intense training of its battalions. Two major German brands then vied for this contract: Adidas and Puma.

The model we know today was indeed produced, but archives from that time do not allow us to determine which company originally made it, and the mystery remains unresolved, with various accounts continuing to fuel the legend.

Novesta has chosen clean and natural materials for the making of their GATs. The upper, made from mesh and suede leather, is mounted on a natural rubber Trail sole with lugs. The insole, also topped with leather, is removable, thus offering the possibility to replace it and better adapt to individual needs.

True symbols of craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, all Novesta models are still handmade in Slovakia, since 1939.
