Despite being relatively newly founded in 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of the hosiery company Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits," proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, which has been home to many of the country’s top knitting factories for many years. With only about fifteen of these factories still active today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.

Although specialized in wool knitting, Batoner leverages its experience to offer premium cotton sweats and t-shirts, made on very particular machines. This t-shirt is crafted from organic cotton with extra-long fibers, spun double-thick and knitted on a special knitting machine, which provides a comfortable tension and seamless body. It features a soft touch and a silky texture unique to organic cotton. Its standard, comfortable and versatile cut is complemented by sleeves and hem sewn with a single stitch. The collar is made with a shoulder-to-shoulder tape to resist stretching and deformation, even after many wears and washes.
