A flagship model of the brand since its launch, the 50's Type II Jacket from TCB is crafted from a medium-weight selvedge denim weighing 13.5oz. This denim is made from Zimbabwean cotton, notable for its hand-harvested process that preserves a purer appearance as well as a softer and less dry feel compared to American cotton. This harvesting technique also introduces natural irregularities in the fabric due to variations in yarn thickness and tensions caused by the vintage loom used for its production. Like most denim items offered by TCB, this jacket has been pre-washed to ensure comfort from the first wear and a fully set fit.

The design is based on a vintage Type II owned by Hajime Inoue, founder of TCB. True to the original model from the early 1950s, historical details have been recreated, such as the twin chest pockets, the silk-screened paper patch, and the ease pleats on either side of the button placket. Interestingly, these pleats were initially designed to prevent shrinking of the jacket or weight gain of the wearer. With a simple cut of the scissors, it is possible to remove the stitches and reclaim the extra space generated by these famous pleats.

In terms of fit, while the vintage model silhouette was boxy (wide and short), TCB wanted to modernize their version of the Type II by offering a more fitted cut around the shoulders and armholes, and also slightly lengthening the torso to align with more current standards.
