Despite being a relatively recent creation dating back to 2013, Batoner is the private brand of the knitwear company Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, which for many years gathered the best knitwear manufacturers in Japan. With only about fifteen still active today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.

In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans made from their Signature knit. This knit is produced by the family-run mill Sato Seni, also located in Yamagata. It is made from a Merino wool yarn and provides significant weight while maintaining flexibility and breathability thanks to an openwork stitch. The spinning technique used preserves the wool's authenticity and gives the final knit a unique ribbed appearance.

For this cardigan, the design is simple and minimalist to maintain the timeless aura cherished by the manufacturer. The assembly of raglan sleeves provides a versatile straight fall that will easily match a wide variety of outfits and combinations. A single, central button allows it to be securely fastened without altering the fall, and 2 patch pockets add a touch of practicality. It is presented here in a very dark, sober, and elegant navy blue.
