These Kasuri Ribbed Crew Socks are knitted with a blend of multicolored dyed yarns using the traditional Japanese Kasuri technique and exclusive organic cotton yarns, developed in collaboration with a renowned spinning mill. The complex shades of Kasuri dye and the irregular surface of the "Slub" yarn give each piece a unique appearance, while the thickness of the fabric is ideal for year-round use.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Nara Prefecture, the largest sock-producing region of Japan. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad.
ROTOTO places great emphasis on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This could be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's expertise.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
