These Rib Crew Socks are knitted with twisted thread made from Washi (Japanese paper fiber) and recycled cotton fibers. The comfort of cotton combined with the cooling sensation of Washi makes them an ideal choice for warm seasons. Washi yarn is known for its excellent moisture-wicking properties, quick drying, and deodorizing effect.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad.
ROTOTO places great importance on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with the craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This could involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's expertise.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
