Despite being relatively new, founded in 2013, Batoner is the own brand of the knitting company Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits," proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, which has long been home to some of the best knitting factories in Japan. With only about fifteen of these factories still active today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.

Although specialized in wool knitting, Batoner leverages its experience to offer high-quality cotton sweatshirts and t-shirts, made on very particular machines. This Jumberca Urake Crewneck is slowly knitted on an old German knitting machine called Jumberca, chosen for the fluffy texture it imparts to the knit. The yarns used for the outer part of the sweatshirt are air-spun to achieve a feeling of lightness despite the density, while ensuring a high level of durability. The inside is made from a softer yarn to make the sweatshirt comfortable to wear even though it is not brushed. The unbrushed fabrics offer greater versatility, being wearable in different seasons.

In terms of fit, Batoner sticks to its usual habits with a simple, minimalist, slightly boxy cut with a generous raglan armhole that tapers to the wrist to ensure a uniform silhouette and perfect fit. The two side pockets, meanwhile, add an ergonomic touch while remaining almost invisible when worn.
