Dubble Works was established over 10 years ago by the Japanese label Warehouse & Co. and is now under the management of Sankei Meriyasu. Historically, it is a knitting company founded in 1926, known for making high-quality sweatshirts and t-shirts. Indeed, to make their cotton jerseys, they mainly use old circular loom machines from the 1920s known as "loopwheelers".

To create this piece, Dubbleworks chose another old and circular industrial machine, called "Standwheeler", originally designed and created in Wakayama, Japan. Rare and difficult to operate, only a handful of artisans are capable of running it. The cotton jersey produced by the Standwheelers is very different from the classic loopwheel t-shirts. Indeed, these machines allow spinning a much thicker yarn than the norm. This results in a fabric that is both thick and sturdy yet remains breathable. Moreover, the Japanese label integrates shorter fibers from fiber offcuts during the combing process into the weave. This addition creates texture and irregularity. This is the Raffy yarn, historically the first to be made from recycled cotton.

This piece features a tubular assembly, with no side seams. The boxy, loose and comfortable fit is paired with a relatively wide, double-stitched, large ribbed collar. It also includes a chest pocket. Another detail found on vintage t-shirts is that the sleeve and hem seams are made with single stitching.

The Turquoise hue is achieved through a pigment dye, applied after the garment is made, which gives the fabric a washed look and an uneven color that will intensify with time and washes.
