Despite its relatively recent inception in 2013, Batoner is the own brand of Okuyama Meriyasu knitwear established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which has gathered the best knitting factories in Japan for many years. With only about fifteen still active today, each strives to perpetuate the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.

In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans made from their Signature Knit. This knit is crafted by the family-owned Sato Seni mill also located in Yamagata. It is made from Merino wool yarn and offers substantial weight while retaining flexibility and breathability thanks to a lace stitch. The spinning technique used preserves the authenticity of the wool and gives the final knit a unique ribbed appearance.
