Despite being a relatively recent creation dating back to 2013, Batoner is the brand owned by the knitwear company Okuyama Meriyasu founded in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly centennial know-how of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which for many years gathered the best knitting manufacturers in Japan. Today, only about fifteen of them are still in operation, each striving to perpetuate the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.
It is in this context that Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans. These are knitted by the family-owned spinning mill Sato Seni, also located in Yamagata.
