These ROTOTO socks, with a "Checkerboard" pattern, are made from pile fabric, smooth on the outside and looped on the inside. Thick and fluffy, these indoor socks provide comfort and excellent cushioning, as well as good grip on smooth floors due to the non-slip inscriptions on the bottom. The addition of wool provides significant warmth to effectively combat winter temperatures.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with artisans to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and use of the product. This can include rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the artisan's craftsmanship.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
