This pair of socks is the Tie & Dye version of the Hemp/Organic Cotton Pile Ankle Socks by Rototo. The fabric is knitted with two different natural materials, hemp and organic cotton, to provide both the comfort of organic cotton and the breathability of hemp. The sole is brushed to take advantage of the moisture-wicking properties of organic cotton and the desorption properties of hemp. A wise choice for hot summer days, while adding a colorful touch.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in the largest sock-producing region of Japan, Nara Prefecture. The region has been renowned for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines depending on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This can be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, on the contrary, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's know-how.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
