This pair of socks is the Tie & Dye version of the Hemp/Organic Cotton Pile Ankle Socks from Rototo. The fabric is knitted with two different natural materials, hemp and organic cotton, to provide both the comfort of organic cotton and the breathability of hemp. The sole is brushed to take advantage of the moisture-wicking properties of the organic cotton and the desorption properties of hemp. A wise choice for hot summer days, while adding a colorful touch.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's leading production region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after a study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We begin by selecting the right yarns with artisans to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the use of the product. It may involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or on the contrary, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the artisan's expertise.
"Preserving the tradition handed down from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh look. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
