This pair of Pile Ankle Socks from Rototo draws its design from retro outdoor sports socks. The fabric is knitted with two different natural materials, hemp and organic cotton, to provide both the comfort of organic cotton and the breathability of hemp. The sole is brushed to take advantage of the moisture-wicking properties of organic cotton and the desorption properties of hemp. A wise choice for hot summer days.
ROTOTO socks are made in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines according to the type of material and the use of the product. This can be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsmanship of the artisan.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh look. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
