Based on the design of the "tube socks" made in the USA in the late 70s, these ribbed socks from ROTOTO are produced on an old, special knitting machine that is hard to find nowadays, using low-tension, soft cotton yarns. The inside of the sole part is brushed for a unique fleece-like feel, characteristic of the Japanese brand.

ROTOTO socks are manufactured in the largest producing region in Japan, Nara Prefecture. This region has been renowned for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the USA to his hometown after his study trip to the country.

ROTOTO places great emphasis on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we select the knitting machines based on the type of material and the use of the product. This may involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or alternatively, modern high-tech tools."

ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's expertise.

"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to strive to produce items that can only be created here."
