Based on the design of "tube socks" made in the USA in the late 1970s, these ribbed socks from ROTOTO are crafted on a rare, old knitting machine using soft, low-tension cotton yarns. The inside of the sole part is brushed for a unique fleecy feel, characteristic of the Japanese brand.

ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been renowned for its quality textiles since the 17th century. The industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) brought a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad.

ROTOTO places great emphasis on collaboration in product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the product's use. These could be rare machines with specific uses, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."

ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's expertise.

"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to strive to produce things that can only be created here."
