Description

The Coarse Ribbed Oldschool Crew Socks take their inspiration from the American tube socks that became popular on the West Coast in the late 1970s. ROTOTO retains their characteristic sporting aesthetic through a chunky ribbed knit and contrasting stripes around the ankle while developing a construction designed for comfortable everyday wear.

The socks are knitted from a thick cotton yarn on a special knitting machine of which only a limited number remain in operation today. The sole uses a long-pile construction, creating a softer surface and providing the distinctive cushioned, slightly bouncy feel associated with this model.

The combination of chunky ribbing and a more substantial sole gives these socks a noticeably different feel from conventional athletic socks. Although their appearance is strongly rooted in the 1970s, their straightforward design allows them to work just as naturally with sportswear and skate-inspired outfits as with more traditional clothing.

Like ROTOTO's other socks, they are made in Japan with particular attention paid to the relationship between material, knitting machine and construction technique. The use of this specific machine plays an important role in creating the characteristic texture and structure of the Coarse Ribbed Oldschool.

Fit & Sizing

The Coarse Ribbed Oldschool Crew Socks feature a chunky ribbed knit that comfortably wraps around the foot and ankle, combined with a more cushioned sole. Their construction gives them slightly more volume than a conventional sock, which is worth considering when wearing particularly close-fitting footwear.

Size S fits feet measuring 23 to 25cm, approximately EU 37-40; size M fits 25 to 27cm, approximately EU 41-44; and size L fits 27 to 29cm, suitable for sizes above EU 44.
