Although the brand Batoner was established relatively recently in 2013, it is the proprietary label of Okuyama Meriyasu, a knitwear company founded in the 1950s. The name Batoner, meaning "a person who inherits", proudly embodies nearly a century of craftsmanship from Yamagata prefecture in Japan, a region that historically hosted the finest knitting manufacturers. Today, only about fifteen of these workshops remain active, each dedicated to preserving the techniques and traditions that made the region famous.

Within this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, pullovers, and cardigans made from their Signature knit. Produced by the family-run Sato Seni mill, also located in Yamagata, the knit uses an exclusive merino wool yarn called "Solid Wool", developed to prevent pilling and deformation. The resulting fabric has a substantial weight while maintaining its shape and structure. Softness and breathability are ensured thanks to the openwork Signature knit and its unique ribbed aesthetic.

For this cardigan, the design is kept simple and minimalist to preserve the timeless aura cherished by the brand. Raglan sleeves create a versatile straight drape that pairs effortlessly with a wide range of outfits. A single central button keeps the cardigan closed without affecting its fall, while the 2 patch pockets add a practical touch.
