Despite being a relatively recent creation dating back to 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of the knitwear company Okuyama Meriyasu founded in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits", proudly represents the almost centennial know-how of Japan's Yamagata prefecture, which for many years housed the best knitwear factories in Japan. Today, with only about fifteen still in operation, each one strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.
In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans made from their Signature knit. This knit is produced by the family-owned Sato Seni spinning mill, also located in Yamagata. It is made from merino wool yarn and offers substantial weight while maintaining flexibility and breathability thanks to an openwork stitch. The spinning technique used preserves the authenticity of the wool and gives the final knit a unique ribbed appearance.
This zipped vest embodies the minimalist aesthetic cherished by the brand, featuring a straight silhouette, comfortable raglan sleeves, and a double-ended zip closure running along its full length. Its thick and structured high collar provides good coverage for the neck while maintaining an elegant look.
