Despite being relatively new, founded in 2013, Batoner is the in-house brand of the knitting company Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits," proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, which has long been home to some of the country's finest knitwear manufacturers. With only about fifteen of these manufacturers still active today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that made this region renowned.

In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans made from their Signature knit. This fabric is knitted by the family-owned spinning mill Sato Seni, also located in Yamagata, using high-quality cotton. The application of an extra twist to the yarn before it is knitted using a special multi-strand knitting machine gives it great durability and a silky appearance. The result is a soft sweater with a smooth texture, featuring excellent moisture absorption and wicking properties.

For this cardigan, the design is simple and minimalist to maintain the timeless aura cherished by the manufacturer. The assembly of the raglan sleeves facilitates a versatile straight fit that will easily blend with a wide array of outfits and styles. A single, central button allows it to be securely fastened without altering the fit, and 2 patch pockets add a touch of practicality.
