For the SS24 summer season, Momotaro introduces us to a stunning Type II jacket crafted from beautiful chalk white selvedge denim with a red selvedge ID! Like other denims from the Japanese brand, the fabric is made from hand-picked Zimbabwe cotton, which is purer. Directly inspired by the Type II that emerged in the early 1950s, this jacket features two piped hand pockets (an interesting detail, as it's relatively rare in reinterpretations of this type of jacket). Here, we see the hallmarks of the historical model, such as the collar, the two chest pockets, and the ease pleats on the front of the jacket. Interestingly, these pleats were originally designed to prevent the jacket from shrinking or to accommodate weight gain of the wearer. With a simple snip, it is possible to cut the seams and reclaim the extra space created by these famous pleats. In terms of fit, the Type II has a straighter fall and is slightly shorter in length, resting on the hips. Highly appreciated for its decidedly "vintage" spirit, the Type II has seen a significant resurgence in popularity in recent years. In an Ivory denim version, Momotaro offers us a great alternative to the classic denim jacket, ideal for summer outfits!
