RED WING SHOES / Blacksmith 3343 Copper Rough & Tough
The Blacksmith 3343 boot from Red Wing is a classic 6-inch work shoe, made in Red Wing, Minnesota. It dates back to the founding years of the Red Wing Shoes company. During the 1900s, the Blacksmith became popular among many workers in the United States. It was used in fields, farms, and blacksmith shops due to its versatility and reliability. After a day of work, the Red Wing Blacksmith could be cleaned and polished to be worn in the evening.
The "Pull Up" Copper Rough & Tough leather has a pronounced vintage look, due to the amount of oil used during its tanning process.
It features an indestructible, flexible, and oil-resistant Vibram 430 Mini Lug nitrile cork outsole.

CAREFULLY ASSEMBLED
The Red Wing Heritage shoes are handmade in the USA, using traditional construction techniques. The brand uses the finest raw materials to create extremely durable shoes and boots. It takes more than 230 steps to make each pair of shoes.
TANNING
Red Wing Heritage is one of the few companies to own its own tannery: the S.B. Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing, Minnesota.
The S.B. Foot Tanning Company prepares the hides and soaks them in wooden barrels with tree oils, tanning agents, and dyes. After soaking, the tanned leathers are rolled, dried, and stretched before undergoing several quality tests and being transported a kilometer further to the Red Wing factory.
This is an essential element as the brand's reputation is largely built on the robustness, durability, and quality patina of Red Wing leathers.

CUTTING
The shoe manufacturing process, largely unchanged since the founding of Red Wing, begins with leather cutting. Highly skilled craftsmen carefully present the sharp cutting dies on each large piece of leather. Selecting the highest quality parts of the leather is a very important step that requires great expertise and a lot of experience.
ASSEMBLY
The cut leather pieces are then meticulously sewn together by experienced operators to form the shoe upper. They work on the same century-old sewing machines that were used at the beginning of the Red Wing Shoe Company.
SOLES
The outsole is manually stitched to the midsole. This is a complex move requiring great precision to ensure that the final step of the shoe construction process is perfectly executed.
GOODYEAR WELTING
Most Red Wing Heritage shoes are made using a Goodyear welt. This assembly method dates back to 1869. Renowned for its durability, the Goodyear welt joins a thin leather welt with the upper and the insole of the shoe. Goodyear welted shoes are also easy to resole, ensuring long-term, continuous use.
FINISHING
All shoes are meticulously inspected twice before being packed in shoe boxes. Depending on the type of leather, each shoe is cleaned, polished, brushed, and finished by a dedicated team.
