Reproduction Of Found ("ROF") is a brand from the Japanese group Eye Found Co. Ltd, founded in 2016.
The primary goal of the brand is to reproduce shoes and sneakers from the 1950s to the 1990s. It has specialized in training shoes from various armies around the world: Canadian, French, American, German, British, and Russian.
This model is a reinterpretation of the iconic German Army Trainer, often abbreviated GAT. The original model dates back to the 1970s when the German Federal Army ("Bundeswehr" or "BW") ordered half a million durable sneakers for intensive training. Two major German brands, Adidas and Puma, competed for the contract.
The model we know today was indeed produced, but the archives do not reveal which company was the original maker, leaving the story a mystery that contributes to its legend.
This version by ROF retains the upper design, crafted from a luxurious mix of grained and suede Italian Nappa leather, with a soft padded fabric lining for exceptional comfort. The outsole differs from the original, replaced here with a vulcanized skateboard rubber sole for increased durability. The skateboard-inspired design delivers excellent cushioning and grip.
