This pair of Check & Step socks from ROTOTO is made on old knitting machines using a blend of organic cotton yarns and synthetic materials, providing both softness and durability. Its design features a mix of vintage patterns, scaled up and knitted in a way that eliminates one of the common issues with Jacquard socks, namely the lack of horizontal elasticity. The numerous inner threads resulting from this type of weaving are also removed, making the sock comfortable.

ROTOTO socks are produced in Japan's largest sock manufacturing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad.

ROTOTO places great emphasis on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This can involve rare machines that serve a specific purpose, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, alternatively, modern high-tech tools."
