The Japanese Cotton Crew T-Shirt by Samurai Jeans is a heavyweight, textured piece crafted from cotton grown by the brand in the Sasayama region of Hyogo, Japan. This exclusive cotton, spun into irregular yarns, is used to create a dense 16oz fabric with a subtly slubby surface, reminiscent of the brand’s iconic “BUSHIDO Zero” denim.
Knitted in Wakayama and then sewn and dyed in Kyoto, this t-shirt embodies the complete Japanese craftsmanship process — from fiber to finishing. The collar is reinforced with a triple-needle stitch for superior durability, while the flat seams are sewn on a Union Special Flat Seamer 36200, a hallmark of authentic vintage construction.
The Kuri Dark shade is achieved through a natural dyeing process using “Tamba” chestnuts, a local specialty of Sasayama. Pigments extracted from the astringent skins of these chestnuts produce a rich, nuanced hue — a blend between dark beige and brown — unique to each garment. A true tribute to Japanese heritage and Samurai Jeans’ exceptional craftsmanship.
